ENERGY STRATEGY

OYAK Cement attaches great importance to energy management, an essential part of the concept of sustainability. Energy efficiency is the ability to perform the same amount of work using less energy without compromising living standards and product quality or quantity.

An energy resource could be heat, gas, steam, pressurized air, or electricity, for example. Energy efficiency can be achieved with measures that increase efficiency, such as the use of more efficient energy resources or advanced industrial processes and energy recovery.

OYAK Cement has made important investments in energy efficiency with the ethos that the cheapest energy is saved energy. Just some examples of these are plants that produce electric power from waste heat, smart systems that manage the process depending on measurement systems, and investments that increase capacity, reducing the energy consumption per unit.

Energy efficiency is also an indispensable part of our environmental strategy, which is one of the main components of the sustainability concept and one of the most important actions required to prevent climate change.

The ISO 50001 Energy Management System has been established at OYAK Cement factories in order to ensure that energy efficiency is an indispensable part of our operational activities and to safeguard its continuous development. With this system, every aspect related to energy is monitored systematically, each plant’s energy consumption is managed professionally, and competencies and knowledge strengthen on a daily basis with all employees involved.
